OPENING SMOKING STATION & SMOKING POLICIES
River City Revival

Smoking area is to be set up when we open, usually this is at 4:00pm unless there is a special event which affects this. Please put an ashtray by the curb in front of this gate. If this is a show day, Starlite Security will move the ashtray the required distance prior to doors. It will be River City Revival staff responsibility to maintain the cleanliness of the smoking area throughout the day and night. It will be Starlite Room Security’s responsibility to monitor smoking area throughout the show.

Starlite Room

Smoking Area should be set up 10 meters from any ventilation and doorways. Security will manage smoking area throughout the show:

  • Ensuring that no patrons exit premise with alcohol. 

  • Keep count of those leaving for the night. Identify the patrons from Revival and the Starlite Room by wristband ensuring room counts (when applicable) are maintained.

  • All smokers shall be patted down upon re-entry when they are re-entering the venue from an unsecured area.

All employees have a list of opening and closing duties, checklists, daily cleaning and side duties within their job description.

River City Revival House

We are open 7 days a week. 
Sunday - Thursday: 4:00pm - 1:00am
Friday - Saturday: 4:00pm - 2:00am

The following list should be performed by all staff members in order to ensure a safe, incident free close:

  • Begin performing the last call for the kitchen 15 minutes before scheduled kitchen close. Enter orders until scheduled close, do not stop taking orders a minute sooner than the scheduled close.  If a patron orders food a few minutes after close, please check with the kitchen to see if it is possible or not.

The Starlite Room

Most of our shows end before 2:00 am, we do our best to organically close down the evening, by turning down music, turning up the lights, performing last call at some bars, and informing patrons that River City Revival House kitchen is open until 1:00am, and serves alcohol until 2:00am. On occasions (ie. NYE, electronic music nights) our shows go until 2:00am, during these events the following procedures are to be followed:

  • Service is limited to two standard drinks after 1:00 am. This is AGLC legislation.  It is also against legislation for a patron to have more than two drinks standard drinks in their possession after 1:00 am. Due to this legislation our establishments will limit patrons to one standard drink at 12:45 am as to not unintentionally go over the limit (for example the patron could have a half finished double hi-ball they haven't quite finished yet).  

  • Begin performing last call for alcohol at 1:45am. Serve alcohol until 2:00am, not a minute sooner, not a minute later.

  • Begin closing duties.

  • Music will turn to quieter less excitable music to help bring the night to a calm and orderly end. Depending on the evening, times may vary, but we would like the music to be quieter by 2:20 am and completely off by 2:45 am.

  • Lights will slowly be brought up until they are full on (full on by 2:45 am)

  • If applicable, the DJ/Band or Sound Technician will wish everyone a good night and to get home safe by taking a cab or using a designated driver.

  • Security should remain outside for a reasonable amount of time to assist with crowd dispersal and to help ensure the safety of all patrons.

  • Crowds will be encouraged to take a cab or use designated drivers.

  • If necessary, assistance will be given to help secure a cab (whether it be just a call or physical assistance to getting into cab).

  • Once the majority of the crowd has dispersed, Security will enter the establishment and secure door.

  • A walk through of the bar should be completed to ensure that there are no stragglers, bathrooms and all stalls should be checked.

  • When able, Security should do a quick sweep of exterior after closing.

  • Ensure your fellow co-workers get home safe by checking in with them and making sure they have a safe way home. 

RUNNING FOOD
River City Revival House

It’s really important that all food orders get presented to our guests in the way it was intended: Visually appealing, plated the way the kitchen presented it. Before you leave the kitchen, look at the bill, ensure all food is made correctly. Know who the server is; know what table or bar seat it is going to. When you drop off their food, look to see if they are set up correctly (cutlery, wing plates, caddies etc.) ask them if everything looks good and if they need anything else.

Please ensure you are checking the kitchen light (located above the back of the bar) to see if food is up. Even if it is not your customers, all customers are our customers. As a team we expect to help each other to avoid complaints. 

Learn the approximate menu cook times to know when your guest’s food should be ready.  We all need help sometimes. If you need help, please ask! All staff should be  more than willing to lend a hand.

Sometimes, the kitchen gets backed up. If this happens, we request that you politely inform your customers that their food will take a little longer than usual. Give your customer an approximate based on your conversation with the kitchen. Hopefully this way, they won’t question where their food is.
