We are all connected, yet more disconnected than ever.
How do you connect in real life with new friends? In an age when everyone is swiping left and right, and hitting the 'like' button - how much face time are we actually getting?
1 in 3 people are lonely.
Loneliness is recognized by the World Economic Forum as a risk factor greater than smoking 15 cigarettes a day for our health!
This loneliness is what led two sisters to starting a platform that connects people in real life over a book and a meal. BooknBrunch was born a year ago but this October we are celebrating all that is amazing about this community, the city of Edmonton and the health benefits of reading!
In honour of National Library Month, cofounders of BooknBrunch, Zuzana Drakul and Daniela Kelloway, are hitting the road on the #IRL Tour- a 6 city tour with brunch events in each city. We started in Toronto now we're here! Edmonton - it's your turn!
👋We cannot wait to meet you! 👋
Please join us for a fine meal and incredible conversation. Meet like minded new friends and discover what BooknBrunch is all about.
We recently read, 'Year of Yes' by Shonda Rhimes - we'll probably quote from this book and might even discuss it a bit but if you haven't read it - don't sweat - come and break bread with strangers and come for the food and merriment. Grab your ticket to support a great cause as well!
Proceeds from BooknBrunch #IRL Edmonton will be going to the Edmonton Public Library.
Invest in yourself, your network and support an amazing library while you're at it!

📖 Book To Be Discussed 📖
Year of Yes - How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person by Shonda Rhimes
The instant New York Times bestseller from the creator of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal and executive producer of How to Get Away With Murder shares how saying YES changed her life. “As fun to read as Rhimes’s TV series are to watch” (Los Angeles Times).
She’s the creator and producer of some of the most groundbreaking and audacious shows on television today. Her iconic characters live boldly and speak their minds. So who would suspect that Shonda Rhimes is an introvert? That she hired a publicist so she could avoid public appearances? That she suffered panic attacks before media interviews?
With three children at home and three hit television shows, it was easy for Shonda to say she was simply too busy. But in truth, she was also afraid. And then, over Thanksgiving dinner, her sister muttered something that was both a wake up and a call to arms: You never say yes to anything. Shonda knew she had to embrace the challenge: for one year, she would say YES to everything that scared her.
